Music
I’ve worked on many musical projects over the years, performing, writing and producing my own work and others. I haven’t done as much recording as I would like but my two albums and singles as a singer/songwriter (My name was Cathryn Stone for many of those years) are here below, as well as some examples of my composition, vocal harmony and soundwork, a direction I’m most keen to explore more of now.
SHORT COMPOSITIONS
These short compositions are intended to be listened to as a kind of meditation, or a spark for the imagination, to take you off somewhere else for a moment. I’d be really interested in connecting these with animation/film in the future.
SOUNDSCAPES
This soundscape weaves together elements of voice, breath, and subtle sonic textures, taken from field recordings and pieces of collected audio. The rhythmic patterns of breathing and vocal fragments serve as the foundational elements, and then other parts are layered in, in the same way that I would approach making a collage. It’s one of my most vulnerable pieces to share, but I hope expresses the universal feeling of relief at recovery, in all it’s meanings.
“There’s a sense of vulnerability and openness in the composition, as if the sounds are gently piecing together something that was once fractured.” Hank Marks
